September NBUS

When I look at the date on my last post, I have to wonder where the time has gone.  I just finished my first card  in three weeks! I have been busy cleaning out and managed to take a load to Good Will this last weekend.  Also I have begun changing some stamps from wood mount to cling to save room.  I am finding stamps that I didn't remember I had.  More about that later.

But tonight, stamping with the Cardologists, I shared my Penny Black 'party time' stamps.  I love these hedgehogs.  Lola shared her happy birthday die which sparked the inspiration for this card and her embossing folder that made the dots.

It looks a little funny in the picture, but that is a layer of sparkly paper which makes the card a little more festive.

And since this is the first time I used this set, I can enter this card, just under the wire at the Darnell's NBUS Challenge #5.    This challenge to use 'never been used stuff' is great fun and hugely popular.  I hope you check it out if this is the first you are hearing of it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bonjour

Just a quick post because I finished our Thursday card.  We all stamped the Penny Black 'bonjour!' stamp three times, colored, fussy cut and layered.   Lola brought her Sizzix Eiffel tower die and while some went with sparkly pink or distressed red, I chose glossy black.  That was as far as I got after two weeks.

Today, after organizing some of my new stamps and putting them away, I found the motivation to finish the card.  First,  I found the "Paris" in a Hero Arts set to be stamped in the corner of a quarter sheet of white.  Then I added parts of the tree branch from the SU Thoughts & Prayers in Pear Pizzaz kissed with Forest Foliage.  Since the tower was so solid, I die embossed the layer with diagonal lines.

The final embellishment was the flower for Mimi's beret.  Alas I had only pink gems; but no worries, I colored over with a red sharpie.  Everything assembled on a red card.

Mimi is now ready for her Paris adventure.   Au revoir.

Celebrate

My sister asked me this week for a birthday card for a friend.  Luckily, Susanne shared her new Penny Black stamp with the Cardologists Thursday night and so I had a colored image.  I liked my water coloring except for one out-of-the-lines blooper that I made worse trying to fix it.

So that meant fussy cutting the flower and mounting it on DSP as well as changing the card color.  Except for the fussy-cutting part, it was a happy accident.   The stamp is quite large, but since the image was cut out I was able to fit it on a card that is 6-1/4 by 4-1/2 inches.

I'd like to welcome my new follower, Liz of Crafty Sunflower. Loving butterfly cards as I do, I was happy to see a beautiful Zen butterfly card on her site that was a Penny Black challenge winner last July.

The bright sunlight we have had for the last two days has disappeared, so now I will go light a fire and sip a cup of tea. I hope you have a good day.

Fairy wishes

 Hello, my friends,

The Cardologists believe chocolate is necessary for the creative process. Needless to say a lot of M&Ms went into this project.   The card took over my whole afternoon.  It started as a simple small card but then it called to be switched around and made into a buckle.  (The actual card went through several metamorphosis until ending up as a gray card with embossed swirls distressed with blue.)

The fairy stamp is a Penny Black stamp. I stamped her twice and popped up the head and star.  I stamped the wings twice with Staz-On on acetate, and cut them out, leaving a tab to slip into the slit I made along her dress.

It wasn't going to be a Christmas card either but when I went looking through my stash I found this sentiment that fit perfectly.

Spellbinders Labels Twenty-two  formed the "buckle" and framed the sentiments from two different Stampin' Up sets, one retired, one Petite Pairs.

Thank you for visiting today.

Stamp camp 2013

The seven Cardologists travel to Stamp Camp every October.  This year we are at Smuggler's Notch in Vermont for a week of creative fun. The leaves are mostly off the trees and we had early snow flurries.  It is a very good day to be inside stamping.

This first card has a background using a technique I found on frenchiestamps.com using wax paper embossing resist. The polar bear is from Stampin Up Zoo Review.
The embossing folder, borrowed from a friend, is birch trees, I think, turned sideways.

This card features the Penny Black stamp Sealed with a Kiss.

Stampin up Dies and punches

Papers on both cards: Midnight Muse, Baha Breeze and scraps

Thank you for visiting.
